Frequently Asked Questions

1. How often do I need to come to therapy?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and consistency. As progress is made, we may shift to biweekly or another schedule that fits your needs and goals.

2. Do you prescribe medication?

No, I do not prescribe medication. However, I regularly collaborate with psychiatrists and primary care providers. If needed, I can help you find a prescriber and coordinate care to ensure you have a well-rounded treatment plan.

3. What should I expect in the first session?

Your intake session is a space to share what’s bringing you to therapy, your personal history, and your goals. We’ll explore what’s been working, what hasn’t, and whether we’re a good fit to work together. I’ll also answer any questions you have.

4. Do you offer therapy in Spanish?

Yes, absolutely. I offer therapy in both English and Spanish, and I welcome Spanish-speaking clients from all backgrounds.

5. Do I need to be in Maryland to work with you?

Yes. Due to licensing laws, I can only provide therapy to clients who are physically located in Maryland at the time of each session—even if services are virtual.

6. What is Headway, and how does it work?

Headway is a secure platform I use to manage insurance billing and payments. You can use it to check your benefits, schedule appointments, submit payments, and message me securely. You’ll also join virtual sessions through Headway’s HIPAA-compliant system.

7. Can I join a therapy group if I’m not in individual therapy with you?

Yes. You don’t have to be an individual client to join a group, but you do need to complete a group screening session so we can determine if a group is a good fit for your needs.

8. What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be subject to a cancellation fee unless due to an emergency.
